Fireworks 2012

I wanted to experiment with capturing fireworks because you don’t often get a chance to do it and its a difficult subject. I took about 200 shots and got these 19, of which I think 15 are worthwhile and 4 I kept for whimsey or color. I’m not sure when I’ll do this again, but I learned what works and what doesn’t work for future reference.

For those who can’t see flash, here’s the set on flickr.

Photo 181: Our house

In the middle of the…cul-de-sac…

Not a lot of time to shoot for me today and then I was casting around for a subject.  I went through the previous days and this is the first time I’ve featured the house in an image, so I might get that into the mix now that we’re over halfway through this daily project. (Yes, I know, I need to trim the bushes.) Overall, I’m just dissatisfied with today’s effort, but I’m not sure why.

If I put my “day job” hat on, I just stepped into the shoes of the people I serve, so there’s that.  And on the technical aspects of this the shot I like, the shutter was pretty slow at 1/40. I’m happy with how steady I was thanks to the IS in the lens.
